RE: RE: CBC's The National.......... We should also add that this is a huge to blow to our Canadian beef industry and one that will take years to recover from. There is no doubt that the beef farmers are going to take this one on the chin with reductions in beef prices and the bigger problem, customers to sell to.
This has serious implications in so many areas. The fact that all of the players in this do know about the vaccine (they do) and have chosen not to use it brings due diligence to forefront of the discussion. To add to the list that Sumwey provided, what if someone had died from this, what is the value of a human life?? How would someone explain to a family that there could have been a chance that this was preventable??
I have no idea what this will cost the beef industry, the Canadian economy, the reputation of our farming industry & practices, the reputation of our government, I am sure that the 50 mil to vaccinate is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost now.
Our government now has to mitigate this, where will the blame will land. I expect it's going to be a hot potato with explanations from government, farmers, retailers, meat packers etc.
After the debates, inquiries etc. are complete I fully expect there to be a national plan to help prevent this from happening again. Considering the government involvement with the plant to this point they could save face by choosing Econiche as the main part of the solution.
On a less serious note, they could say “this was in the works but just had not pulled the trigger yet.:)”
Good day all
Our day will come!
