Unfortunately, investors have to rely on smart management to initiate hedges at the right time.
Our bone headed management failed to hedge when the price of zinc was dropping thus maximizing losses for investors.
Then the management got all gung-ho about hedging when the price of zinc was rising thus minimizing gains for investors.
When you have bone headed management, hedging is always a bad idea. They are gambling with investor money, and they have no idea what they are doing.
