Not over yetI suspect this is round 1 only. The opposing factions will come up with a strategy to counter this. Unfortunately in Mexico it could be intimidation and violence. I really hope not. The company is wiling to work with any union that is fairly and legaly voted in. They are caught between a rock and a really hard place. It is the employees who suffer in the end. I think the Canadian unions and activists have got this one wrong. There is no doubt that Canadian mining companies abroad have a mixed reputation but I believe this one has acted ethically and are in a difficult situation with Nafta etc. Wages and conditions in Mexico is a macro problem and Torex has tried to be fair, There isn't a bad job in an open pit mine. It is equipment operation, such as trucks and drilling. They are skilled jobs and rare in that region of the country. It will be an interesting but tense time ahead to get longer term stability.
