RE: More oil firms move into costly oil sandsThat article is incredibly revealing ! "Big oil" has "plenty of conventional oil and gas opportunities", and they don't need the capital intensive oil sands of Canada ? Thunder Horse, the deep water platform run by (I think) BP, in the GOM, is still not producing, two years (and about $2 billion US), behind schedule, partly thanks to a hurricane, with great danger of more hurricane damage. For two $ billion US, BP, using THAI, could, in three years (Thunderhorse began construction almost five years ago)time, be producing 400,000 BOD of 21-24 API oil, to pipe, in Canada, with no future hurricane risk ! IMO, Statoil is already planning, to license THAI, or perhaps, buy out PBG. The Norwegians are looking very smart, from this vantage point.
