NewsScorpio's Sampling on the 7th Level of the Nuestra Senora Silver Deposit includes 14 metres grading 1,100.29 g/t Ag, 2.90% Zn, 0.02% Cu, 4.14% Pb and 0.35 g/t Au
TSXV:SPM
VANCOUVER, May 9 /CNW/ - Scorpio Mining Corporation (TSXV:SPM) is very
pleased to announce additional assay results from ongoing underground channel
sampling of the walls of the 7th level development drift of the past-producing
Nuestra Senora mine located near Cosala, Sinaloa State, Mexico (Table 1).
Peter J. Hawley, President and CEO reports: "With the completion of our
new resource estimate that outlined Indicated Resources of 1,128,000 tonnes
grading 202.56 g/t Silver, 3.47% Zinc, 0.91% Copper, 1.44% Lead and 0.236 g/t
Gold in addition to Inferred Resources of 978,000 tonnes grading 229.47 g/t
Silver, 4.07% Zinc, 0.92% Copper, 2.72% Lead and 0.347 g/t Gold (Reference:
Sedar filing - February 22, 2006), underground development, resource
definition drilling and channel sampling of the various levels has been
accelerated. We are confident that over the next six months these programs
will continue to increase the tonnage of the deposit."
The mapping and sampling of the 7th level indicates that the mineralized
envelope is approximately 70 metres in width. Although much of this level was
mined in the 1960's, the channel chip sampling continues to return high-grade
results from the pillars and development drifts. All channel sampling of the
underground levels are at 1-metre contiguous intervals. The company awaits
numerous sample results from the 7th level and will report them as they are
received.

Scorpio has completed 1,777 metres of underground development on the
Nuestra Senora deposit to date. The main ramp has advanced 121 metres
vertically below the ramp portal entrance located on the 3rd level, and is
14 metres vertically above the 9th level (vertical separation between each
level is 30 metres).
