The 100 million litre/day is an average, Both Vancouvers existing and Victoria's planned collection is connected with the storm runoff collection (Calgary/Edmonton have them separated). In fact on a normal day, large variation to discharge occurs and is estimated to peak at about 300 million L/D for a 3 hr. period or about 1.9 million barrels/d. TMX will never reach such rates. Also toxicity of raw asewage is many time more than Bitumen due to chemical flushed and harmones from birth control pills etc. Currently harmones and many flushed chemical cannot be removed effectively. This is greatly affecting the planet but you hear little about it.
