Since we live to 80 + your family is using much more carbon than just replacing yourselves. We went from a billion to 8 billion in how many years ? It is absolutely shocking. The human virus. We are not any smarter than a virus or bacteria in a petri dish. They divide until the resources run out and the entire colony dies. Or a cancer . It divides , spreads, and destroys its host , only to perish with the host. They dont have a brain, we apparently do but dont use it much.
