Is there an upside for VET here? Aside from supplying gas for LNG this isn't really in their wheelhosue and they are looking to import not export. Perhaps they might be willing to grant more exploration permits to try to find more offshore NG if they find LNG distasteful? They will have to do something as the corrib has a life expectancy of 8 more years GLTA.

LNG is nothing more than an intermediate product - natural gas chilled to liquid so it can be moved, and then regasified once moved.  Ireland is considering a regasification plant.  Little reason for interface with VET, but rather trying to avoid the planning errors of Germany.

The only thing I could see is someone else builds an offshore LNG terminal and utilizes the existing pipes/gas plant at corrib. It might only be a small project waiting for a larger one to be built out, but anything helps...See OLT Toscana LNG offshore italty for an example.

Ok but at the moment there are no permits given out and they would still need to build it.  We are looking at 2 years + for this scenario.
