RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Canada's oil patch leads shareholder payout boom in energyAgreed, but my point is some may take the opportunity to shelter some of the O&G gains against some of their losing positions.. not a bad idea when most if not all O&G stocks have had great moves this year.. and by the action in the last couple of weeks, I'd say its a good move.. shelter some tax gains.. buy back lower.. viola.. bob's your uncle..!! ;-)

Moemoney42 wrote: Agreed.. I think tax loss selling and cap gains selling for year end balancing is playing a bigger part in the last months activity, than it has in past years.. for a trader this action is rather welcome.. longs will get frustrated and create buying opportunities.. I've used this type of weakness in past years to add or start positions and have been doing it again this year, although not in O&G but other sectors.. ;-)

DaveInvestor59 wrote: This is all true but you'd never know it by the stupid share prices of many of the energy stocks. Just look at Crescent Point. It's down almost 4% today but yet it's raking in the dough at $70.00 WTI. All the energy companies are, but their valuations are dismal.
