Market makers trashing the stockAt the market open when there are not too many sellers to meet the demand from the buyers, market makers are borrowing the stock at high prices and sell it to buyers at also high prices. To get their money back now they lower the bid-ask as low as possible to buy back the stock at a low price and return to the house. And that lasts so long as it is needed to get their money back. Then ,hopefully more sellers and buyers will make up the market and in an up day the stock will go up.
