Canopy is a fairly large company with quite a few employees. If they really exceeded expectations by a fair margin, I would think that it would be difficult to keep that information contained. All it takes is one initial person to mention something to a friend and before you know it its spread exponentially. Maybe the market is reacting to something the rest of us are not aware of, yet. Here's hoping.
The sector is hot, especially CGC because it's the largest company in the sector. Funds are now buying marijuana stocks for the first time and CGC is the go-to name. That's why it's surging. Not because of leaked earnings data. It gives me a lot of confidence in CGC, and the sector in general, to see the big boys buying at this price. This still has room to run, imo. I am being quite cautious though because of the large run up. Expect a pullback at some point but it's just another opportunity to accumulate more. This will continue to appreciate long term.
