RE:RE:RE:RE:My take on the Gov Paper

RE:RE:RE:RE:My take on the Gov PaperWell, on the micro, is it just micro?  she said, "We are not going to put any limits on the licenses that are given. If people choose that they want to enter the market in a small fashion, they certainly can, and if bigger industries want to get involved they can as well."

Not thrilled with that last bit.   Do I think it's a right now problem? No, but maybe more down the line.  But as most think it will be via acquisition and not putting down their own footprint, so maybe a non-issue for the larger industries.

She's like a parrot saying the same thing.  Reporters were annoying hammering the 'following of the taskforce report' point.  Bill shuts that down nicely.

On point 2, packaging is great.  And I've always loved canopy in their branding.  A minor point, but I said ages ago will leafs by snoop be able to retain the 'by snoop' part?  The distinction between brand name and a 'mascot'...  Regardless, canopy will excel here.

On point 4, anyone's lingering doubt of a potential delay should be the smallest of specks at this point.

On point 5, she said, "...to legalize and strictly regulate, the sale of cannabis by July 2018."

Prior communications regarding this have said the federal government will give the provinces by July 2018 or it will be available via mail order at a federal level.

Those points can be interpreted differently.  Going by the imposed deadline (on the provinces) standpoint for a moment, this made me think that it can't happen at the federal level prior to July 2018.  Let's say the federal govt made it legal on April 1st, the provinces may then cry foul saying they were given by July 2018 and were still committed to meeting such date.  So by pulling the trigger early, the federal govt would be cutting short the amount of time they gave the provinces to come into action.  And we all know they don't want July 1st, so that made me guess July 30th, to buy them a few more weeks of work and still sell it as everyone meeting their committments.

But stating to the public by July 2018 is another matter.  If she is not misspeaking on this point, we are going to see it prior to July.   But how much earlier than July? I still think the provinces would complain if if this came in much earlier than July.  Honestly, I'd love early, but anytime July is fine by me.  No delay equals happy man.
