Funny, I checked the height of base camp on google 5364 m, vs total height of Mt. of 8848 m. Represents growth of 1.39%.  Lol.  Probably not the image that David Klein was intending.   The numbers would have to be weighted for difficulty of meter climbed to make more sense.  =)

Not sure where you get 1.39% ... from 5364 to 8848 is a growth of more than 60% ... unless I missed your point.
