Money can't buy happiness but how about legalisation? The cannabis industry set a record spending on Washington lobbying last year, with its outlay of $5.43 million.There were hits and misses in D.C. While the cannabis industrys lobbying spending keeps growing, the sums involved fall well short of spending by bigger Washington players. Amazon, for example, paid out $21.38 million in 2022.

Big Pharma  about $800 million a year. Big  pharma calls the shots.

Good point! You would think it would be prudent for Constellation to contribute more, just to protect their $5 billion Canopy investment.

I don't have any numbers but I bet Constellation greases the skids with political donations for their alcohol biz. The illegality of the whole pot biz at the Federal level probably prevents such contributions to the politician who is going to bark for you. Acreage Holdings has some personel on the payroll that are designated for lobbying for Acreage and for those that don't know, Acreage ...more

Canopy was the largest lobbyist spender in 2022 at $750,000.
