RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Strike looming I agree with everything you said there. I had a friend who worked for GM in Oshawa and he was paid something like 66% of his wage not to work. That's absurd, and that is but one obvious reason why Oshawa continues to lose out as a community that relies on the car industry.
No one should be paid not to work (outside of vacation and stats).

I started my own enterprise 3 years after leaving school and never looked back. Turned over the helm of the company when I semi retired at 75. Now at 80 I Still act as an advisor , council or oversight in the odd situation.

In the US there are national holidays like Canada. Employees have the alternative to take the day off and not get paid without fear of being fired. Or go to work and earn their days wage. It is their choice. It is how it should be.
