WEF DIVIDEND.."..

I would like to see a dividend. Stocks with a dividend are less volatile. Holders don’t panic as much when the stock dips. Investors say, “Oh well, I have a dividend and am still earning.” WEF has been a nervous stock. It would be good for the company and good for investors.

A dividend increase? WEF reinstated the divy 2 quarters ago. Personally, I'd like to see them continue to buy back shares then increase the divy. That way, they'd be paying out less as opposed to had they not elimated shares.

Increased dividend or additional share buy backs are definitely preffered to an acquistion where they overpay for something. Do we any obvious acqusition opportunities for WEF to blow their excess cash?

not so sure about increasing the divy yet, buy backs are great and ongoing but they can on;ly do so much. they will be flush with cash, what I'd like to see them to as the s/p creeps up more shorts will steadily appear, once the short position gets up there a bit, declare an immediate  1 time significant special divy (and more  later, lol) and watch the bastids cover like crazy ...more

I'm with Big Bear on this issue. Dividends, once given can never be taken back, whereas, shares once bought back can be reissued. I have seen too many situations where a company cancelled their dividend and were never forgiven by the investment community. Dividends can blind one to fundementals and ony when it is too late do you realize that the dividends came at the cost of your shares.   ...more

I agree 100% on not increasing the divy, no one knows how low lumber will go, or what the ndp might do in tfl's etc. they need a .lot more certainty going forward, however, with a lot of extra cash sespecially for this upcoming q, a special divy like one of the big boys did, can't remeber if it was west fraser or one of the others. they could possibly pay a 2% special divy plus continue ...more

I assume this also includes special dividends too?

Dividend increase should be delayed until  lumber futures settle down and shown  reasonable price before dividend increase ?  NIB is okin IMO.
