WELL's management team

WELL's management teamCEO Hamed Shahbazi has 20+ years of experience as a technology focused operator. In 1997, he founded TIO Networks - in July of 2017 TIO Networks was acquired by PayPal for CAD$304 million.  Mr. Shahbazi was named the TSX Venture Tech “Exec of the Year” three (3) years in a row (2014 – 2016) and TIO Networks the TSX Venture Tech “Stock of the Year” two years in a row (2014 – 2015).

Once he founded WELL, he proceeded to re-assemble the team that had succeeded along with him at TIO.  These  include the following now in WELL's executive suite:  Chief Financial Officer Eva Fong, Chief Operating Officer Amir Javidan and Senior VP Chris Ericksen.

The Chief Medical Officer is Dr. Michael Frankel, a practicing physician and owner-operator of the first 6 clinics acquired by WELL.  He was also a member of the consortium of physicians from whom WELL acquired the subsequent 13 primary care clinics.

Senior executives in WELL's technology area include Chief Information Officer Arjun Kumar and Senior VP of Product Development Sara Bond.  Both Arjun and Sara joined WELL as a result of the KAI Innovations acquisition. Together they co-founded KAI Innovations in 2012 and led the company to becoming the largest and fastest growing OSCAR Service Provider (OSP) in Canada, providing EMR services to over 560 clinics that support over 2100 medical professionals.

In 2017, KAI won Canada Health Informatics Association’s Award for Innovation and Care Delivery, and in 2015, won Start-Up of the Year from Canadian Business Magazine.
