Future Share Price

Please explain to me how Dale could sell the Penasquito Mine (sp?) for $1.6 billion when it had less than 2 million oz. of gold (gold was at $800/oz) --- and did not have copper, silver, and mylbdenum deposits, while WRN has 20 million+ oz. of gold, and 14 billion pounds of copper and we are projecting such low SP figures!

Look at its market cap just prior to the buyout and you'll see Western Silver shareholders got a 40% premium on the deal. We know what we're worth based on the resource; Newmont/Agnico/Whoever looks at us and says "ok, we'll give you C 2.10 per share (40% premium) based on your market cap." A Mexican Standoff. Who will blink first?
Comment by Pinegrove1 on Jan 26, 2021 1:45pm
The obvious problem is our low SP relative to value. Paul says it's an opportunity for investors. I say it gets in the way of a proper valuation for JV or sale. I expect that the combination of drill results, PEA, FS, and an aggressive selling campaign by Vitton and the team will escalate the SP throughout 2021 and then a decent premium can then be added to get us to a SP that we as investors ...more

IMO, that is a lowball offer and I wouldn't waste my time talking to the party across the table. Hearing that offer I would say, "have a good day and don't let the door hit you on the way out" -lol. We are in the driver's seat, not the back seat! Let's let the new PEA document and Revised FS do the talking for Casino, then we will find out who is really, truly interested ...more

JC - this is exactly right. You cannot expect more than 30-40% premium to share price. There is NO way Newmont /WRN are discussing anything close to $1B ($6.5 USD share). That would be gross negligence on the the part of Newmont and their shareholders would be having an absolute fit....saying "so we paid $1B for a company that has market cap of $180M?????".  There is no point of ...more

I sure hope that Dale isn't selling the market cap!  Especially when WRN has +/- $100 billion in the ground....That would sure be idiotic and very disappointing to all shareholders.
Comment by jclarke042 on Jan 26, 2021 3:33pm
Dale isn't selling the market cap. At the same time, Newmont et al aren't buying the sticker price on our CuEq tonnage. Hence, the stalemate we find ourselves in. That we just raised 28m tells me we're NOT the ones blinking when all is said & done.
Comment by gratvalyou on Jan 26, 2021 4:55pm
ya but we should have raised @ 4 $ not a buck and a half.! Wake me back up when we breach 3.5$ Grat
Comment by EvenSteven27 on Jan 26, 2021 5:06pm
Jclarke, you are 100% correct about the stalemate. Palmer is a penny-pincher/bargain hunter and Dale is holding firm on true value. We should all appreciate Dale for what he is doing. It is in shareholders' interest to get fair value which I believe Newmont is not offering. Hope a third party comes in and a bidding war ensues. Might bring Palmer around to getting serious. On another note ...more

Gross negligence?  Hmmm......interesting theory... Hypothetically, if we could run a real life experiment, the potential acquirer balks at the idea of shelling out $5 a share for a company trading at 1/4th of that.  They think they can snap up most of the shares on a $2 budget per share on their own.  By the time they had breached the 10 million level of shares acquired the price ...more

For anyone out there looking for info on WRN, read this thread. There is more informed discussion here than anywhere I've read. I have been a shareholder sice 2002.
Comment by Sooner on Jan 27, 2021 9:49am
Ok - but let's assume this is correct according to your numbers ...and you believe WRN will sell out @ $15/share (or something north of $10 anyway). Then the acquirer would still realize a benefit of 10M shares X $13/share or $130M. Assuming your number on $2/share is correct. There are obviously plenty of shares held by weak holders for them to start acquiring.  I think we are all on ...more

Cb2, I support Steve and your ideas. IMO, eventually they will centralize the whole zone to a few of Majors with drilling departments or, a few juniors to complete the exploration frontline work. Likewise with limited gold processing plants or smelters to process the minerals. We have already got Victoria Gold operating, how many do we need throughout the Yukon Gold Zone? How about cost sharing ...more

Sure, it is sort of a stalemate right now in terms of negotiations.  Acquirer shareholders would expect say a 50% premium above market price = around $2 USD a share.  WRN shareholders are approaching it from the perspective of 50% of NPV given an updated PEA with higher NPV values. Right now we are (and have been for many years) in the kicking the tires phase of negotiating.  The ...more

Would our Board be fulfilling their fudiciary obligations to shareholders with an outright rejection of a $5/share USD offer if that was presented tomorrow as example???? Regardless of how i would vote my shares on a $5/share USD offer presented tomorrow or not....I would say something like that would be up to shareholders and we are getting into a bit of a grey area of fulfilling fudiciary ...more

The board and the HNW investors control the majority of the shares and I'd be willing to bet they would all vote together on any offer so even if the rest of us were asked, it's in their hands. They have been together from the start and I'm sure they have a number they would take.
Comment by Sooner on Jan 27, 2021 8:36pm
Ok - that's fine. You're saying it's a foregone conclusion they would reject a $5 /share usd offer...BUT why not at least present that offer on the table to create a "floor" in the share price? That at least shows investment community where the share price needs to go. What harm in that?
Comment by Pinegrove1 on Jan 27, 2021 8:48pm
Oh, I'm not saying that it wouldn't be presented. I would think that it would and should at least for the reasons that you stated. I just don't think that we have any say. I'm ok with that by the way. I'd probably vote right along with them as well!

Retail only holds 30% of the shares outstanding.  It is irrelevant what we think.  We have one and I repeat ONE duty only:  buy and hold and enjoy the ride.

Penasquito had silver. Lots of silver. Penasquito had both silver and gold, but silver was a really big sales point on that one. That aside, I am still a firm believer that many of you are shooting too low on the Casino target price. It must be remembered that supply/demand are a sign of the times. We now have electrifying the automobile industry. That was not where we were at 16-18 years ago.
