Jan Presentation

Posted to the website. Of note:

Slide 6: Indicating everything, including permitting review is complete. Rio internal review "ongoing."
Slide 19: At current spot prices, NPV approximately $3.5b CAD.

At 40% * NPV, that's about $9US a share.
Comment by IvanRo on Jan 25, 2023 10:02am
I think it will be closer and would accept 3 / 3.50 USD.  :-)

MetalMinded, NPV for Casino still too low. RT is going to have to make a fair equitable offer(up the ante), or they run the risk of losing their 8% ownership of shares in Nov/23. It took them 3 goes before shareholders  at Broken Hill reluctantly accepted their offer. Lowball offers is their forte! Remember a dozen N/D Agreements were signed off last year. IMO, other Majors are in the mix ...more

Blue You said it, ""Casino the "Jewel Property of the Yukon" has value easily in double digits."" "" It's now a waiting game." "Patience is of the essence!"" I do think Newmont and BPH are also having a look right now, something will happen soo ! Lets hope after this is all done we are looking @ $4.00 to $5.00 USD M2

Patience is all we got.  It's all we've had for over a decade. The more I reflect on this equity the more it confounds. The sad thing is that I can't even trade it now cause the trend is downwards. As an aside my broker seems delusional given the facts herein. Thank God I trade 95 percent of my portfolio myself via a discount brokerage house.

Unfortunately...no one will use spot in NPV...they will use "long term prices". however it should be more backup in our negotiations that our base case metal prices is more than fair and conservative! I'd think Rio would say 25% of $1.8 B usd =$3 as the fair offer...then of course they would say that's a 50% premium to current market cap!

A mental excercise: All figures in USD, assume CAD 0.747 USD I am a large mining company, I understand that I will spend either ($500MM + $2.7B) or ($1B + $2.7B) to buy WRN and to build the mine, the numbers are the buyout price + startup capital costs. I can't spend the $2.7B until at least (1) there's a road to the Casino site, and (2) all permits are granted. Tell me why I am in any ...more

The longer they wait...the higher the premium. The longer they wait...the higher probability someone else places bid. I could alternatively ask , "why did they even decide to start kicking the tires 2+ years ago and invest time and resources  so early?"  they could have waited until permitted according to that line of thinking.
Comment by Sooner on Jan 25, 2023 4:54pm
Or for that matter...why not just go buy producing assets... its all about premiums IMO
Comment by Heywood_Silvers on Jan 25, 2023 6:15pm
Hi Sooner, I agree that some will prefer not to use NPV in negotiations whilst others will prefer to. Now, as far as long-term prices are concerned.  Does any one (in their right mind) believe we are going to go into an extended period of deflation while we are still in the fiat currecy environment?  The mantra with fiat is "inflate or die".  If the CURRENT 3 year average ...more

Hi Heywood: THANK YOU for still another excellent "common snese" approach to the sale of WRN! Pappy

Heywood, Thanks so much for this post. I agree with you fully. I got on the WRN website and went over the latest updated presentation, and there are a couple of things I just don't understand that they don't change with this update. One is the pricing for moly, gold, and copper for their "base case". THM (International Tower Hill Mines) in their latest Updated presentation uses ...more

Oakie - I exchanged a couple emails with Paul 1-2 years ago on why NPV of 8% vs 5%. Typically I think base metals use 8% and precious metals 5% although in reality you see all companies picking and choosing it seems. If I remember correctly, if we used 5% it would add like $1-$2B to our NPV...so it is a huge change. I also asked why we don't have sensitivity on our NPV taking into moly. Seems ...more

Sooner, Thanks for the answer. I had not thought of the base metal vs precious metal distinction. Also, your point about the headline NPV not mattering much in the long run is well taken.  By the way, does your identifier name "Sooner" have anything to do with the state you are from, or some other reason? I was born an "Oakie" and lived in several towns in Oklahoma and ...more

Nice! Yes Sooner is OU grad! It also fits in well with WRN because sooner (rather than later hopefully)...we see some major(s) making an offer. why Oakie instead of Okie! nothing better than an Okie from Muskogee --- although probably only the 2 of us appreciate good Merle Haggard lyrics! Boomer Sooner!

As usual ...no one cares about moly. NPV at spot including Moly is $5B+.... if which Sandy even told me after discussing with Paul related to the stupid Kai Kaufman comment about NPV < capex.
