FIDELITY PURCHASES!

Nice to see that Fidelity is still buying WRN shares.  They have recently added 700,000 shares to one holding and 2,000,000 to another.  They now have 18.7 million shares which is more than 10% of the outstanding shares!  My guess is that they have had at least one visit with WRN and maybe more....

Nice find Pappy, I'd forgotten about checking the 13F's because institutional buying doesn't necessarily move the price. Great showing from Fidelity. I'd just caution: Fidelity owns 10m. Depending on what site you use, sometimes it shows holdings in each individual fund, where it'd be easy to double count.Rio is still the largest individal shareholder. This website shows ...more

Thanks, JC!  My source says that  FMR, LLC owns 10,000,000 shares and Fidelity Select Gold has 8,702,000.  I did not know that there could be overlap between the two funds regarding WRN shares. Pappy

Interesting find, large purchasers are always welcome. In general though, institutional investors are about as bad as the bulk of retail investors, meaning that they will sell out in a heartbeat for a piddly premium if given a chance in a potential M&A scenario. The best purchases are those by the insiders or whales (Sprotts, etc).  Long story short, I don't necessarily think that ...more
