Who Was The Other Major?

Apparently, WRN turned down an offer from another major in 2010/2011. Paul even mentioned this on a video one time. Does anyone have any idea on who the other suitor was? What were the reasons for talks breaking down? How is now different from then? Would love to hear.

Hi EvenSteven, 2010-11 was before my time as a shareholder with WRN and I have not heard anything mentioned about who the Companies were. But what I have heard in the last 3 years from Mgmt, was both RT and BHP were in serious discussions with Western regarding Casino, prior to the current RT partnership announcement. As well, Paul did mention in a recent video within the last year, he has ...more

I prior interviews, Paul almost made it sound obvious that Newmont was an obvious potential partner - i don't recall him ever indicating they made an offer,,,,but he has repeatedly stated in prior interviews about them. Seems like about a year ago that kind of cooled off though -- so not sure what happened or if that's when Rio came in or ???? It is pretty apparent to me unless we get ...more
