What''s the point of Alpha...
It may be the bank perrogative to set up a competitor to the TSX, but given the reduction of listings on the exchange I wonder if it would be financially viable...the banks would end up trading the shares of each other back and forth as all the other big names will have been acquired by foreigners. The main concerns I have are if the regulators and competition bureau will allow it. Frankly, TSX Group should get their head out of their a** and stop behaving like its business as usual and start aggressively cutting costs and attracting listings -particularly in the resource sector...otherwise we will be competing and losing to the Johannesburg Stock exchange..
