D flow thru shares recently issued at 2.54

They    were   all   donated   to  charity  by   the   buyers.   The Charities   or   charity    then   sold   them    all   for   2.06  per share.  The  buyers  of   the flow   shares   paid   no  capital  gains  tax   as   donated  to  charity  .  They   also   got   a double   tax deduction   ie   flow  thru  shares  plus  the  donation  to   charity.  Did   the   flow   share  buyers   make  any   money  -----likely    they   are  facing   a small   lose  however  for  billionaries   it   is an inexpensive   way   to  donate  to  charity which in  this case  seems   the    main   motivation.   They   get   credit   for   it      but   it  costs   them   a few cents   on the dollar   while   in effect   the government    pays   the rest   through   forgone   taxes.

Where did you get this story? Nothing about it makes sense.
Comment by pennydredful on Mar 28, 2023 9:53am
Its   the  facts  man   .   I   bot   some  of  the 2.06   shares  that settled  yesterday...   thru   3  different  brokers.   At   the  time   stock  was   about   2.21   so  2.06    seemed ...more

You   are   correct    .   Predessor   to   the   current   company   called   Yangarra   that  morphed into   current    Yangarra   dates    to    1985      so    38    years    not  & ...more

He is obviously "trolling"....
Comment by pennydredful on Mar 28, 2023 5:50pm
I  hope  you are not accusing  me of trolling  .   How   so  ? My  initial  statement  is 100%  correct. Sorry    about   saying    I  owned  the shares  for   50   years   when it was  only 38.

A company  called  Pear Tree Canada may have  had there finger in the deal.  They  specialize  in   flow thru   shares  tied to charitable   giving.
Comment by Hendrick3 on Mar 29, 2023 12:26pm
Ok I will bite. Are you suggesting that the charitable donation was the impetus for the stock issuance or that it was an opportunity identified after the stock issuance was announced? Help me to understand.
Comment by pennydredful on Mar 29, 2023 2:52pm
The concept  of the charity   deal  was  there from  the get  go .  Was  identical  to  the Journey  Energy  deal  done  shortly  before   Notice  in the  recent  budget   they  clamped   down   on  such deals    by   removing  ...more

Interesting I have not heard about these. Really killed ygr share price. You would think there would be ambulance chasers trying to sue management for acting outside shareholder's interests. I picked up a ton of shares below $2 so I am fine with it but I would be pretty pissed off if I was a large buyer 6 weeks ago and then this little scheme is hatched.
Comment by pennydredful on Mar 29, 2023 9:30pm
I  doubt   if  they would be legally  culpable  but    they    were   just   reactive   not    proactive  .  Since  their    CFO   is   a  former    investment  banker   they    should    be    on top  ...more

Just be thankful for the buying opportunity....

With this new information, I feel like I won the lottery. Imagine being able to buy a stock below 1x cash flow. Should be back over $2 in short order. Great time to buy. Thanks all for the information.
