History
Even if a stolen vehicle is recovered, its owner may still suffer the consequences of significant physical damage such as breakage, loss of cargo, losses resulting from contractual penalties for failure to deliver, production delays and difficulties in replacing specialized vehicles for which the tracking and recovery of the vehicle cannot compensate. This is why Kolombo has developed a prevention - rather than tracking - product.
Kolombo is focusing the first phase of its commercial development on the transport industry, Tractors, bi-trains, Trailers, Heavy-duty Equipment and secured environments.
As of March 1, 2006, in addition to the two promoters who devote all their time to the Company, Kolombo employs nine persons, including four engineers and computer specialists, and actively uses the services of three main external consultants as well as those of the active members of its board of directors.
Founded in May 2000, the company focuses its activities on research and the technological development of management and theft deterrent systems for vehicles and the development of secured zones. Kolombo was founded and initially operated by ric Gros-Louis, a police officer who liked the idea of being able to identify and immobilize stolen private vehicles. In May 2001, Mr. Gros-Louis obtained the support of the Centre d'intgration et de diffusion de la recherche en activits policires of the cole nationale de police du Qubec, in Nicolet, which carried out a study of the first Kolombo system in a virtual patrol situation.
In the autumn of 2003, Mr. Gros-Louis transferred 85% of his interest to a new group headed by the current majority shareholders, namely Fouad Choucair and Martin Arsenault (see "Directors and Officers").
