Experts advocate changing the cannabis law

Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Sophie Hstorp Andersen (S)
believes that the time is ripe to decriminalize cannabis.

It has been a debate for years.

Should it be legal to buy cannabis in Denmark, or should it still
be a criminal offense if you want to get your hands on the
euphoric substance?

Several experts now advocate decriminalization. This is, among
other things, about increasing consumer safety and eliminating
a part of illegal sales.
Senior physician at Novavi Stofrdgivning and long-time
expert in drugs Henrik Rindom is convinced that the
decriminalization of cannabis is the right solution.

He believes that too many resources have been spent on
punishing young people who smoke weed, and that you need
to think in other ways.

- I have never seen any young people stop smoking because
they get a sentence and a fine of 3,000 kroner. I think it's time
we try to help instead of criminalizing them, he says to TV 2.

legalize
