RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Knock Knock anybody home? The market for low-temp sterilizers is oligopolistic, being overwhelmingly dominated by ASP, soon to be owned by Fortive, and to a lesser extent Steris. Other players are marginal.
Hospitals seeking a proposal for sterilizers routinely will ask for scope manufacturers endorsments. For the scope manufacturer, this is double-edged. If their scope deteriorates during the sterilization process while their competitors' scope do not, the testing may turn out against them. In a sense, before your mandate testing from TOS, you may want to know the answer ahead of time.
Further, scope manufacturers will not sell their scope just to anyone. They may want to control who buys them. So it is by no way sure the Pentax or Fuji were selling their scopes to TOS.
In short, this is not a bank-and-white issue. Further, it would not be surprising that ASP and Steris are using stong-arm techniques to bring TOS to the ground. This may be done with scope manufacturers and with client hospitals. I will let you know figure out what they may do but I have seen again and again large companies in a oligopole squezzing out sammer entrants in their market.
Now let see what RR and acompany have to say next week.
