RE:RE:RE:David Fingold referenced disposable endoscopes That has been my contention since I first heard of the disposable scope
Governments the world over are concerned, with good reason, with the waste generated by plastic bags etc and now a manufacturer wants hospitals to throw away hundred of thousands of scope 'tips' or whatever a year.
I doubt these 'throw away' components are cheap either.
Since hospitals need to steriize many different components anyway why would you spend the funds on a part you have to replace for every procedure when you still need a low temp sterilizer regardless and can simply sterilize the whole unit and use it multipule times?
