Strip Ratio...

On may occasions I have talked about the Strip Ratio...very, very important when crunching the numbers to determine the economic viability of  a deposit.

Osisko Mining located in Northern Quebec has a Strip Ratio of about 4 to 1...Detour Gold in Northern Ontario is looking at about the same...4 to 1.  I am using these two examples for comparison due to the fact that I believe that Cote Lake will take on a similar profile.

Strip Ratio...simply put...Waste to Ore Ratio...they must both remove 4 Tonnes of Waste to access 1 Tonne of Ore.

I am going to share something with you that I heard today...I have mentioned on many occassions that I believe the Strip Ratio of the Cote Lake Deposit will be 2 to 1 which is most excellent...today I heard that it will be just below 2...on the waste side...Fantastic!

Now...if the market is not pleased with that...well...what do they want?

The Strip Ratio at Cote Lake will be the envy of many....it is most excellent.  Just think of the low cost of mining...the lower strip ratio cost will go right to the bottom line...when you are talking about moving 239 Millions Tonnes of Ore and about 478 Million Tonnes of Waste the savings will add up big time!

Remember...try not to focus on what we cannot change or control (irrational market behaviour)..focus on the reality of this Deposit...where in the world are you going to find one to replace it...if you have one...please let me know!

P.S.  The Strip Ratio among other factual information will be in print shortly!  Preliminary Economic Assessment.

Digger;   forgive me if my memory is weak - do we have any indcation of metallurgical recoveries on the Cote deposit yet?

Hate to let wrong information go uncorrected.  Strip ratio or waste to ore ratio for Osisko as per their 2012 mining plan  is 1.69.  That is roughly 33,000 tonnes of ore and 56,000 tonnes of waste.  For their Hammond Reef project it will be 1.25.  If Trelawney is not less than 4 to 1 shareholders will wish that $2.50 was still the price.  Market never lies.

Oh the market may not lie - but it certainly stretches the truth many times over. Osisko at 2 bux - wish I had that opportunity again - that was an outright lie from Mr Market if you ask me.

Add 3 more zeros to the 33,000 and 56,000 figures quoted.  Those are in millions.

Hey Sharpie009... What ever your motives are...it does not matter to me...I know the Trelawney Story a whole lot better than you can ever hope to know.     I do not normally waste my time with the likes of you...but...this time I will make an exception, due to circumstances. Perhaps you should research the facts before you make a statement. I will help you this time around. It is right ...more

It looks like Sharpie is correct for the Life of Mine data and Digger is referring to 2011 results only. For clarity read the technical report.https://www.osisko.com/en/exploration/technical-reports.html

digger, I can't for the life of me understand how you will know what the strip ratio would be without a technical report and engineering study, I'm sure even the CEO of the company will not know the answer to that, I owns the stock and while I expected this drop after the PR  will roll with it given thats the nature of these junior mining play, don't like these speculative pumps ...more

Rest assured that mgmt of credible companies move well ahead of technical reporting requirements. It's not too much to expect than these kind of engineering parameters are well understood by now, is it?
Comment by Sharpie009 on Feb 28, 2012 4:50am
Hey Digger Are you deliberately trying to mislead investors with your statements?   Quoting a strip ratio for Osisko for 2011 when it is ramping up and going through its commissioning phase and has only been in commercial production for 9 months and saying Trelawney will be better is deceitful.  I repeat the strip ratio for Osisko for 2012 which can be considered more representative ...more
