(TSX:TZT), a leading producer of high-performance wireless broadband and WiMAX communication systems, announces a new family of turn-key WiMAX pico base stations using Proximetry's market-leading intelligent provisioning and management software, AirSync(TM). The first product operates in the 3.5GHz licensed band, offering wireless internet service providers (WISPs) and emerging carriers a price/performance breakthrough and higher degrees of base station performance management. The TR-WMX-3.5-pBS is designed for broadband service providers with small footprint requirements or limited subscribers per base station. Combined with Tranzeo's family of industry leading WiMAX 3.5GHz subscriber units and Proximetry's network management software, it provides a comprehensive and turn-key last-mile solution. The total solution is ideally suited for rural wireless network services and enterprise applications where there are fewer customers but still a need for guaranteed levels of service. Leveraging Tranzeo's partnership with Proximetry, the product family is AirSync(TM) enabled which enables each base station and subscriber unit to be centrally managed and provisioned. Proximetry also offers an expanded network management product that enables the Tranzeo system to be autonomously provisioned and service levels managed according to network policies and the real-time use and behavior of the network. "Tranzeo has an established reputation in this market for the competitive pricing and high quality of its wireless broadband equipment," explains Tranzeo USA President Dave Gelvin, who oversees the company's WiMAX product line. "Our customers, partners and distributors have been asking us for this product and we're very pleased to be able to deliver on it." This is the first WiMAX base station product for Tranzeo, and it targets wireless internet service providers in the 3.5GHz licensed band. Tranzeo has a strong history and distribution channel for serving this market and the 3.5GHz licensed band market is growing rapidly internationally. "The WiMAX pico base station is the first milestone in several areas of collaboration with Tranzeo," said Tracy Trent, Proximetry's CEO. "The compelling economics, easy deployability, and advanced Managed Services capabilities of these products mark a major next step in WiMAX product evolution. The vision of 4G broadband everywhere can only be realized with the addition of these types of innovative WiMAX products to the market." AirSync active monitoring and real-time adjustments assure that appropriate service levels are always met for all users. The result is a wireless network with the performance, scalability, and reliability typically found in carrier-class wireline networks. The TR-WMX-3.5-pBS will begin shiping to customers in the second quarter of 2008 and will have a single unit price of $1,950. The global market for fixed WiMAX equipment based on the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard was estimated at US$172 million, or 14 percent of the total wireless broadband and WiMAX market last year, according to a report published in February by Maravedis Inc. The report also projects that the WiMAX equipment market will reach an annual US$4 billion in 2012.
