📝Further... keep in mind that the law prohibiting US import

Further... keep in mind that the law prohibiting US imports of Russian enriched #Uranium also prohibits the use of intermediary suppliers like China to circumvent the ban. A big tariff on Chinese imports would just be an added level of protection against attempts to get around the Russian ban. DOE's Waiver Guidance makes it clear they could block ALL LEU imports that come from a supplier that's suspected of being involved in efforts to circumvent the ban.

As the law hasn't yet come into full effect, it wasn't applied to scrutinize past imports of LEU from China. Starting Monday, imports from China will begin to be scrutinized according to the new law. US Nuclear utility fuel buyers have already been warned.
Cheers!
