Alas there is much wrong done in the name of religion. The bad ones set a poor example which then turns people off. All I can say is that they are hypocrites and are not really following what they are purporting to.
As for Jason Hommel, I cannot speak for him. But from reading his reports I get the impression that he comes across as a freelancer, and is not connected with any particular organization. I appreciate his reports and agree with several of his insights. But my style would be somewhat different.
In France the Revolution was quickly followed by a Reign of Terror. So, I think we can say the problem is in the heart of man, is it not?
