We are all waiting for the other shoe to drop. Why is AMY stock not going up after years of positive test results, proof of concepts, bench tests, patents, pilot plant success, and now scalable and potentially profitable. Yet still no takers.
Other recyclers are off to the races, landing big contracts and customers. The problem with AMY is that they never were in this for recycling. Their knowledge is limited and they are aquiring as they go.
Here is what we know:
1) Their process can recycle batteries and recover nearly 100% of the critical battery metals.
2) Their process can't mass recycle multiple battery chemistries at once.
3) Their process can recycle multiple battery chemistries on an individual plant process basis. i.e. one commercial plant per battery chemistry.
4) Their process to date is not proven cost effective. However, plant efficiency has improved and whatever original cost born are now apparently much lower.
5) Multiple companies have had their product tested by AMY with no third party commitments.
6) AMY has no income and no cash reserves, and no grants.
7) No company has stated that AMY's recycled products will work in their manufacturing process.
8) To date, no third party company has stated that it was able to reproduce a new battery from AMY's process.
AMY's process may work, but it is obviously going to work only with a unique customer. AMY has already stated that it can't be a one stop shop. It's a hail mary to a big company to step in and use this process. Likely more R&D needed to refine the process to handle multiple chemistries at one plant. In the end it may just be cheaper for the battery manufacturer to buy pure product from source then to spend more on recycled product. Only time will tell.
