Meaning of 'non brokered private placement'

Meaning of 'non brokered private placement'According to Answers.com:

Raising of capital via private rather than public placement. The resultis the sale of securities to a relatively small number of investors.Investors involved in private placements are usually large banks, mutualfunds, insurance companies, and pension funds.

Investopedia Says:
Since a private placement is offered toa few, select individuals, the placement does not have to be registeredwith the Securities and Exchange Commission. In many cases detailedfinancial information is not disclosed and a the need for a prospectusis waived. Finally since the placements are private rather than public, the average investor is only made aware of the placement usually afterit has occurred.

Maysteeler may be right.  If VST sought out these funds, then they would likely have provided more advanced details of the drilling on a 'non-disclosure' basis.  On the other hand, if private investors sought out VST to place the funds, then perhaps those same details would not be disclosed.

Be interesting to see who are these investors... Look for an early close to the PP.
