Government reconsiders signing new hydrocarbon contracts
In the last hours of this Thursday, October 27, the Government of Gustavo Petro is thinking of re-signing new contracts for the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, despite the fact that in the campaign he assured that they would stop signing.
One of the reasons that led to think about the situation is the tax issue, given that they hope to continue having the resources generated by these activities.
The director of Public Credit, Jos Roberto Acosta, indicated that "the figures of the medium-term fiscal framework show the need to maintain new exploration, the Minister of Finance, Jos Antonio Ocampo, will say something soon and more forceful."
According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, there are currently 330 signed contracts, of which 117 are in the exploration phase and 147 in the exploitation or extraction phase of the discovered crude oil and gas.
In this same sense, 58 contracts are suspended or in the closing stage. However, the government is looking to reactivate them. You
