RE:RE:RE:RE:Mexico's cannabis industry eyes potential exports to CanadaProvinces would still wholesale marijuana since the control distribution and collect taxes on sales. If they're paying less per gram, they make more money distributing at the same price. More money = bigger cow. Dispensaries would still be paying taxes as well, which make up 1/3 of the projected revenue from marijuana (33% split across supplier, distributor and grower). It's estimated that 1/3 of revenue from marijuana sales make it back to the growers, but growers also get to write off expenses and expansion, which reduce the taxes they pay.

I doubt that the federal government and all the provinces will allow anything to affect their new cash cow. They take in revenue at all levels, corporate tax, employee income tax, excise tax HST etc. Its all about the money. If they allow imports that they can't control they only shoot themselves in the foot. How could they explain the job and tax loses in the fastest growing industry in Canada to the voters.
As far as branding, just because companies can't brand in Canada dosn't mean they can't internationally. Plus we have our pitifully low currency aiding exports.
Just throwing that out there for consideration.
