Sources: Croatia no longer obstacle to opening EU chapters

Sources: Croatia no longer obstacle to opening EU chaptersDespite the fact that the opening of Chapters 23 and 24 have no impact on Erin Ventures whatsoever, the following is still good news for Serbia. The only impact that the EU membership has on Erin Ventures is the requirement that Serbia must privatize their money losing State Owned Companies. Resavica is one of those and Pobrdje is the only part of Resavica that we are interested in.

Cheers,

As far as Croatia is concerned, there are no longer any obstacles to Serbia opening chapters 23 and 24 in the country's EU accession negotiations.

Source: B92

B92 learned this on Monday afternoon from sources close to Croatia's state leadership.

According to our information, Croatia has during the past period presented its objections related to the opening of the said chapters, that have been taken into account during discussions with other EU members.

Earlier in the day, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who is in Paris for the Western Balkans Conference, said he was not ruling out such an outcome and the possibility that the problem of the blockade of chapters 23 and 24 could be solved on Monday during informal talks with representatives of Croatia and EU officials.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Great Britain would green light the opening of the chapters as well.

Also earlier on Monday, Tanjug reported that Serbia will likely open chapters 23 and 24 on July 19. However, Beta's European Commission sources said that negotiations were ongoing.

Croatia has been blocking Serbia's EU accession process for over three months. It was announced last week that Croatia did not consent to the opening of chapter 23 "for essential reasons."
