Superior Canadian Resources Inc.: News Release
7/15/04
CALGARY, ALBERTA, Jul 15, 2004 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) --
SUPERIOR CANADIAN RESOURCES INC. (TSX-V:CAD) is pleased to announce results from an Ontario Geological Survey covering a lake sediment geochemical survey over the 100 % owned Sim Lake Project Area and an update as to the company's summer exploration program at Aurum Gold Project.
Ontario Geoscience Survey Finds Excellent Mineral Potential in Northwestern Ontario
Results from the Ontario Government "Operation Treasure Hunt" Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) 2001, Fort Hope Area high density regional lake sediment geochemical survey Open File Report 6071, identified the Sim Lake Area as the 2nd most promising for "Best Anomalous Area".
The lake sediment survey outlines 55 areas around Fort Hope where significant geochemical anomalies occur and offer excellent potential for precious and base metal discoveries.
Sim Lake Area Project:
The 100% Company owned, Sim Lake Project claims are located approximately 500 kilometers by road north-east of Thunder Bay, Ontario and comprises a land area of approximately 11,264 hectares.
Encouraging results from the Survey identified the Sim Lake Project as hosting highly significant lake sediment anomalies. The multi-site anomalies consist mainly of nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) over a broad area, and also include elevated platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd) and cobalt (Co) values.
Aurum Gold Project:
The Aurum Project covers an area that is analogous in many respects to the setting of the gold deposits found in Timmins, Hemlo and Kirkland Lake camps in Northern Ontario. The Project is situated in the O'Sullivan Lake and Maun Lake area, approximately 380 kilometers by road north-east of Thunder Bay, Ontario and comprises a land area of approximately 3,456 hectares.
The history of the area would indicate that current Aurum claims represents the first time that all of this property has been assembled and held by one company. The area has never had the extensive exploration of the major gold camps in Ontario, giving the Company comfort that there remain significant opportunities for new discoveries.
Over 20 known gold occurrences spatially related to felsic intrusive rocks, significant zones of alteration and sulphide mineralization, along with the presence of numerous small and large-scale faults, suggest the potential for both bulk tonnage disseminated, and/or high-grade vein gold mineralization. Grab samples from a variety of showings on the property run up to 273.9 g/t Au, up to 279.1 g/t Ag, and up to 15 % Cu.
The Company currently has an aggressive fieldwork campaign of prospecting, geophysics, and geological mapping underway. While the Company has focused on the "Kowkash area" for future drilling, fieldwork in other areas is also expected to yield follow-up targets.
The Company recently completed detailed helicopter-based magnetic and Time Domain Electromagnetic (TEM) surveys at 50m to 100m line spacing over two areas of interest on the claims and are awaiting the final results.
