Drill hole no. 3 intersected Cretaceous lignitic coal seams over an 80 ft(24.3 m) interval below 627 ft (191.1 m) depth. The maximum recovered thickness of coal seams was 2.5 ft (0.8 m). Additional small seams were intersected 18.5 miles (29.8 km) northwest, near the Yohelnitsky River, in the first 200 ft (61 m) of core, in drill hole no. 4.
