Ecologia are to continue their existing working relationship with SolGold Plc having recently been appointed to assist with the development of various plans. These include SolGold’s Environmental Management Plan, Health and Safety management systems as well as assistance with the implementation of its community relationship program at their Cascabel project in Ecuador.

Ecologia were appointed in October last year to act as environmental assessors to SolGold to oversee the submission of the Environmental Management Plan for the project. They have now been asked to develop and implement Worksite Health & Safety (WHS) management systems and procedures for the Cascabel project in Ecuador and help with the coordination of its community relationship program in the local area.

"We are delighted to be able to assist SolGold with the development and implementation of this service at their Cascabel project. Ecologia and SolGold understand how important it is to have a solid WHS system in place to achieve an injury free workplace. We will provide a team of trained and experienced WHS experts to assist SolGold in developing, implementing and maintaining an effective WHS management system to mitigate the risks involved with owning and operating an exploration program in Ecuador," said Lazaro Roque-Albelo, General Manager of Ecologia.

The Cascabel project is located approximately 120 kilometres north of Ecuador’s capital city of Quito. The copper-gold project in northern Ecuador is a Joint Venture between SolGold and Cornerstone Capital Resources Inc.

Ecologia Environmental Consultants Pty Ltd (Ecologia), a subsidiary of Resource Development Group Ltd (RDG), have been appointed by Brisbane based SolGold PLC to act as environmental assessors, assisting with the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the company’s Cascabel project.

The project, located approximately 120 km north of Ecuador’s capital city of Quito, is currently in the advanced exploration phase having been granted license approval in August subject to implementation of commitments in the EMP. Ecologia will fulfill the requirements of the EMP to ensure SolGold remain compliant for the duration of the advanced exploration phase, which is estimated to last approximately four years.

In Ecuador, all phases of mining activities require approval by the Minister of Environment (MoE) prior to commencement and projects are closely monitored by the MoE to ensure they are compliant with the country’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes. "Having trained the MoE in EIA system and control mechanisms for mining projects last year, we have first-hand knowledge of the country’s requirements and can ensure SolGold remain compliant throughout the whole process." Said Dr. Lazaro Roque-Albelo, Ecologia’s General Manager.

"Ecologia has a multi-disciplinary and multi-lingual team (Spanish, English, Portuguese, French and German) able to address and provide strategic advice and management for all stages of a project in different countries. In today’s global business environment where customer diversity and global operations are increasingly common it is vital to offer a high level of multi-skilled support to remain competitive." Our team has managed numerous mining and contract projects throughout Western Australia, Ecuador, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines." He added.

Over the term of the contract Ecologia’s assistance will include a gap analysis of the EMP, liaison, sub-consultant engagement support, biannual monitoring report reviews, environmental compliance audit reports, translation of documents, environmental program and budget review.
