RE:Forward Split Shares

RE:Forward Split Shares

BE stock notice that was given “The record date for the stock split is Wednesday, November 7, 2018 and the shares will begin trading on a split basis on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.”

PUF ‘s  “The Record Date for Stock split is Monday November 19th, 2018 and shares will begin trading on a split basis on Friday November 16th, 2018 “
As of the **close of business on record date**will receive 5 additional shares for each common share held.

Why do companies start trading on a split basis a day BEFORE the record date when shareholders receive their additional shares. Can that gap be advantageous for some or is it just a necessary protocol.
Much thx to those who responded to my original inquiry.
I do hope that our FS isn’t as muddled as you described.
However your explanations certainly help prepare people.
The stock market is fascinating but definitely one has learning experiences
at every turn...not to mention the dark side that encompasses what I consider to be border line criminals partially monopolizing profits by any means. Oh well can’t be all rainbows & unicorns lol
Exciting days ahead ;)
