Pirie on TimminsTimmins MPP George Pirie, who was among those at the college on Tuesday, said he saw the vehicle on display at the Ontario legislature a few months ago and encouraged the association to bring the vehicle to northern Ontario where critical minerals required for the development of electric vehicles are going to be mined. “It’s only right” for the vehicle to make a stop in “Timmins because this is where the minerals are going to come from,” said Pirie. “We’ve got the lithium. We’ve got the cadmium. We’ve got cobalt and we’ve got nickel deposits here in Timmins.”
He said these “are huge deposits that will feed the critical minerals that will supply battery technology” for the electric vehicle industry.
