PDAC tidbits

PDAC tidbitsThis is an interesting article about the non-China domestic supply chain concerns and initiatives underway in North America and Europe.

There's some interesting quotes about battery metals of course. There's an anonymous quote from a Lithium company about government moniesand the incentive programs around the development of critical mineral assets in Canada. Of course I have no idea who it is but I know who it could be.

Also I found this particularly interesting because it speaks to the average amount of time it takes to get a mine from discovery to production in Canada. For those including me who thought it was taking ridiculously long time the actual truth is apparently 16.9 years. So that means critical elements is pretty much average. And guess what we have all the permits we have governments wanting to help. Share the prices are depressed but it's a cyclical market. We are in a great position. It doesn't feel like it right now. But we are.

Commodity prices may be low now and energy transition industries undergoing a period of retrenchment, but the mining sector understands cycles and is accustomed to thinking long-term (the average time to open a new mine, from discovery to production, is 16.9 years).
