Questrade Question

Questrade QuestionDon't know if anyone on the board is using Questrade but I wanna ask a question....

When adding liquidity, no ECN fees are charged but removing does.
However, does removing liquidity apply to both buying and selling? I'm sort of confused as I asked the agents working at Questrade, they said that It refers to the fact that you are taking shares off of the books of the company at the exchange, both on the bid and ask side of the market. So ECN fees are charged. SO if that's the case, there won't really be a time when we're "adding liquidity" then?

How I interpreted before was that...addling liquidity means that I'm injecting $ into the market, therefore, I won't be chraged ECN fee. When I sell my shares, then a fee would be charged 'cause I'm removing my $ from the market. And that was the way it was for me before, whenever I buy stocks, I won't get charged for ECN fees and only be charged if I sell stocks. However, recently, I got charged for putting an order in to buy and had it filled.

Anyone here can shed some light? Thanks
