From all my previous trades, I was never charged a fee for adding liquidity, only at removal. However, just this 1 transaction I had, I was charged a fee for adding liquidity. So I'm unsure exactly what the heck they're doing. Their webpage says that adding liquidity is FREE. In any case, I will need to clarify with them before I do anymore transactions.
From what I know, I don't get the option of routing my orders through normal exchange. But maybe because I'm not paying into their "upgraded platforms" Those "upgraded platforms p"rovide level 2, for example...so maybe they have more options as to where they want to route orders.
It's the commission fee that attracted me to Questrade and the other features (mainly admin sort of stuff). I have been pretty satisfied with them. It's just this hiccup of the ECN fees recently that caused me headaches with them.
