RE: DFI has Q1 loss of $141,721
RE: DFI has Q1 loss of $141,721THEROCK17 WROTE:
Its dissapointing to see that DFI will not have 2 vessels mining for them in the immediate future.
Indeed, this quarter, we will see production for only the last 2 weeks of June--and perhaps no sales at all for this quarter.
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT INFORMATION FROM? THE NEWS RELEASES TO DO WITH SHIP REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE ARE THESE:
Apr 7, 2003 6:55:30 AM
Roger Daniel, Director of Operations for DFI, stated: 'The mining vessel M.V. Anya is currently in dry dock for routine maintenance to the mining system and for its scheduled Class Society Inspection. The purpose of this maintenance will be the improved availability of the twin airlift mining system, which would forseeably result in an increase in the daily mining rate and improved recovery levels. Mining is expected to resume on or about April 18, 2003. We also expect the mining vessel, M.V. Lady S to have completed its routine maintenance work and to be returning to mine DFI's marine diamond concession later this month.'

Roger Daniel, Director of Operations for DFI, further commented: 'M.V. Anya is currently undergoing repair, maintenance, and improvement and upgrade work in Cape Town. Dry dock congestion and increased scope of work as a result of Gemfarm's empowerment partner's requirement to upgrade the ship's Classification Society and change in its flagging state to South Africa have led to delays, with more port time required than originally anticipated.'
He added: 'We are now looking forward to resuming recovery operations in mid-May. On the plus side, following this extensive work program we anticipate improved availability and efficiency from the vessel and its twin airlift mining system, resulting in improved diamond production and profitability.'
THERE IS NOTHING TO SUGGEST ONE OF THE SHIPS HAS BEEN PULLED FROM SERVICE PERMANENTLY AND IN FACT IN THE APRIL 30 RELEASE IT STATES OPERATIONS WILL RESTART MID MAY. SINCE I HAVE SEEN NOTHING TO THE CONTRARY, I ASSUME BOTH SHIPS RESTARTED MINING OPERATIONS AT THAT TIME. IF YOU CAN POINT TO AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE CONTRARY PLEASE POINT IT OUT.
