Tim Cutt, president of diamond and specialty products for the world'slargest mining company, told a Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerceluncheon that exploration is progressing well at other potential minesites in Young and Melville.

A second mine (Cutt wouldn't say whether Young or Melville would benext) could be expected to begin production by about 2017, he said.

In Melville, 150 kilometres northeast of Regina, workers havecompleted one, three-dimensional seismic study to map the potash and areabout to start another, Cutt said.

They've drilled three wells and will drill 50 or 60 more until mid-2012 if study results are favourable.

Thesethree most advanced prospective potash mining projects could produce anestimated 16 million tonnes a year, Cutt said - a figure almostequivalent to the volume of potash the province currently churns out.
