After the seismic survey they will have to estimate the porosity of the rock from appraisal wells, the oil/water factor, the expension factor of the oil and a lot of others factors before they can evaluate how many barrels they have in the reservoir.
After that they will have to evaluate the recovery factor which also depend on some variables.
The permeabilities of the rock, is the reservoir fragmented or not etc.
That's only after those analysys that they will be able to give a number of barrels
