What are you talking about?  I am NO FAN of the Liberals but given they left the corporate tax alone and announced further tax credits for EV type investments, I did not see bad news here, only good news.  I hope the budget is not approved, but I do not see too much bad here.  Budget 2024 announces the government's intention to introduce a new 10 per ...more

I hate that the liberals have literally bombed the balance sheet with red ink. That being said, the increase in capital gains is for amounts over $150k for each person I think. Not on amounts below that. If you are making over 150k in capital gains in non registered accounts each year, I suspect this increase is not gonna kill you. Actually on review of the published docs again. The capital gains exception is 250k per individual per year. To be honest, good luck with that liberals, people will just move around the money. This will likely increase the frequency at which assets change hands to realize gains sooner rather than let them accumulate to ensure that the assets do not accumulate over 250k in gains.  This aspect ...more

The  rate of tax increases, in part, on inviduals with capital gains in excess of $250,000.

Nope!  Mine holding is mostly in my TFSA.  It will not be subject to tax.
