Gitennes has commenced drilling on New Mosher in Quebec GITENNES COMMENCES DIAMOND DRILLING ON NEW MOSHER GOLD PROPERTY, CHAPAIS-CHIBOUGAMAU AREA, QUEBEC
Gitennes Exploration Inc. has commenced diamond drilling on its New Mosher gold property. The first phase of drilling is planned for a minimum of 2,500 metres and will initially target areas of induced polarization, high chargeability and geophysical anomalies that are associated with historic gold values in diamond drilling. The identified chargeability anomalies are similar in orientation and intensity to gold bearing structures at the nearby Joe Mann mine. New Mosher is located three kilometres from the past-producing Joe Mann mine which produced approximately 1.2 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 8.3 grams per tonne gold plus silver and copper.
The drill program will be the first diamond drilling on the New Mosher property since the late 1980s. Two previous drill programs consisting of limited shallow drill holes intersected gold on two of the Gitennes IP anomalies. Additional IP anomalies have been detected both historically and in a recent survey and will be tested with the present drill program.
Diamond drilling in the 1980s intersected:
- 8.1 g/t gold over 0.25 m;
- 187 g/t gold over 5.1 m.
In the mid-1950s drilling intersected gold in four of five holes:
- 3.40 g/t over 0.7 m at a down-hole depth of 65.2 m;
- 1.28 g/t over three m at a down-hole depth of 57.9 m;
- 0.87 g/t over 0.3 m at a down-hole depth of 41.7 m;
- 0.29 g/t over 0.9 m at a down-hole depth of 37.7 m.
