West Lake Awarded Right to Advance Carbon Sequestration Hub

Just a week ago, West Lake Energy announced hat the Government of Alberta awarded them with the right to pursue to the next stage of development and evaluation of a potential Carbon Capture Sequestration Hub (the “Hub”) located near Pincher Creek, Alberta:

"Expected to generate hundreds of millions in annual revenue for southern Alberta, the green energy centre is expected to create a valuable economic benefit for the province and the surrounding communities including employment opportunities and training during all phases of construction and operation, support for local businesses and services, and generation of additional tax revenue. It will be an important asset to the infrastructure and economy of southern Alberta as the transition to low-carbon energy becomes more essential"

Let's hope Greenbriar is the next file on West Lake's desk. From past year:

"Greenbriar Capital Corp. (“Greenbriar”) is pleased to announce that it has executed an agreement for long-term solar energy supply with West Lake Energy Corp (“West Lake”), a leading privately owned independent Canadian oil and gas producer based in Calgary, Alberta. Under the agreement’s terms Greenbriar will build, own and operate 90MWac of solar energy production with the first solar site having a capacity for 30MWac. West Lake agrees to purchase all solar power generated from the project and has the option to purchase from the second site which will provide the remaining 60MWac.

...

Greenbriar and West Lake have agreed to a framework to work together in future solar production facilities. With the goal of increasing capacity to 400MW over the next several years, the two companies intend on being the premier solar energy provider to other independent upstream oil and gas producers who do not have the capacity and expertise to build and own their own renewable energy facilities"

9Islucky, perhaps you remember the ice bucket challenge from 8 years ago that went viral to help bring awareness for ALS? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS6ysDFTbLU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amyotrophic_lateral_sclerosis I've read a month ago that Bruce Mc Donald (West Lake's CEO) announced that he was diagnosed with ALS during the summer. That's 3 or 4 months after he met Mr ...more

Sven:Are you kidding me?Because I pointed out that Alberta, from day one ,has been a guestion mark I am quilty of having no compassion from for someone with ALS? Jeff has stated that there are good reasons for holding off on news re Alberta and he didn't mention ALS. A close relative of mine died from ALS in a long brave battle.Cut the snotty remarks!

No, I haven't said that at all. I replied to your negative post (which sounded a bit like scornful laughter to me) with something I've read a month ago online that's likely to explain some of the delays. It was you that decided to post this / cast your judgment: "Ah,the mysterious, clouded, secretive can't say, don't know what's up West Lake ,Alberta scenario ...more

9Islucky, a better wording from my earlier post would be this: Now that you know this, give him some slack please.

Finally got around to your post Sven. Good catch on the information. Hard to believe GRB hasn't jumped on this information. Next step in the process but a long way to go. I've added some additional information that you can follow related to Alberta's process of moving forward with carbon capture sequestration and hydrogen development. Lots of companies involved in moving these projects ...more
